The Government Actuary’s Department (GAD) held a webinar on ‘Making sense of COVID-19: Climate change risk management’ on the 26th August 2020. In this webinar, Professor Paula Jarzabkowski gave a presentation on ‘From Risk Transfer to Risk-Sharing: Time for a Paradigm Shift?’. In her presentation, Professor Jarzabkowski pointed to the importance of a shift from the current paradigm of insurance-based risk-transfer markets to a new paradigm of risk-sharing across key stakeholders. She further emphasized a need for a new risk-sharing approach, a need for innovation in the product set, and a need for future-oriented thinking about risk.
